Family history notes state that James Tucker and Thomas White founded Deal in that year, and that Tucker owned 3/4 of the land comprising 2500 acres, extending from the seashore westwardly to the Poplar Line and from the Whale Pond Creek, (the northern boundary of Deal) southwardly to within about a mile and a half of Green-Pond, the southern boundary of Deal.^10,7

George Tucker believes the move was partly due to anti-Quaker sentiment in New England. Family history notes state that James Tucker and Thomas White founded Deal in that year, and that Tucker owned 3/4 of the land comprising 2500 acres, extending from the seashore westwardly to the Poplar Line and from the Whale Pond Creek, (the northern boundary of Deal) southwardly to within about a mile and a half of Green-Pond, the southern boundary of Deal.^7,9
