Obituary | Her obituary was published on 15 January 1941 in the Greenwich Journal and Fort Edward Advertiser, Greenwich, Washington County, New York, and read, Mrs. Mary H. Thebo, widow of P.C. Thebo, and one of the oldest residents of Fort Edward, died Sunday morning, after an illness of three days. She was 95 years old. Funeral services were held from St. James' Episcopal church yesterday afternoon with Rev. J. Hugh Hooper, rector, officiating. Burial was in the family plot in Union cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Thebo came to Fort Edward from New York in 1863 and Mr. Thebo established a fish and fruit market at that time and later entered the grocery business. The business has been continued inder the name of M.H. Thebo since Mr. Thebo's death in 1903. Mrs. Thebo was the mother of five sons and two daughters, of whom three sons, George W., P. Charles and Benjamin, and one daughter, Mrs. Anna T. Wright, all oif Fort Edward, now survive. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Eliza Terhune of Hackensack, N.J.20 |
Probate | Her estate was probated on 19 March 1941, and her children Philip Charles Thebo Jr. and Anna May Thebo were issued Letters Testimentary.62 |
Note | The Thebo grocery store, established by Mary and her husband in 1863, closed in April 1941 after Mary's death. She had been running it since his death in 1904, using the name M.H. Thebo.63 |
